Who We Are
Mint and Sealed is a vinyl record shop based in Newport Market, officially opening its permanent unit in July 2025 after a successful run as a pop-up since 2024. It’s run by Chris Seal, a seasoned DJ and music journalist with a deep-rooted passion for discovering and sharing music across every genre.
Background
Chris Seal’s love of vinyl began behind the decks, DJing across Plymouth, Cardiff and London from the 90s to the mid-00s. Today, he brings that same energy and taste-making instinct to Mint and Sealed, while also writing album reviews for Buzz Magazine. Having previously appeared at record fairs across South Wales, Mint and Sealed has quickly earned a reputation for its expertly curated selection.
Newport’s vinyl scene is thriving again, and with two other record shops now open in the city, Mint and Sealed adds a unique, boutique touch to this musical revival.
What We Do
Mint and Sealed delivers the cream of music across all genres — from sealed new releases to reissues, rarities and undiscovered gems. Expect everything from indie, pop, punk, grunge, alt rock, nu metal, emo, to hip hop, electronica, soul and funk, afrobeat, roots reggae, dub, Latin, and contemporary jazz. Whether you’re crate-digging for the classics or after something minty fresh and limited edition, this is your spot.
